Original Sugababes announce release of first album for more than two decades

The new self-titled record will be the first from the founding trio – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy – since their debut album One Touch in 2000 and will hit stores in February.

The English girl group will also release a brand new single, Ghost, on Thursday.

 The cover art for the album was shared in a post on Instagram which was captioned: “We’ve poured so much into this record and the more it came together, the clearer it became that there was only one thing we could call it: ‘SUGABABES’.

“It feels unmistakably us.

“We’ve loved writing and recording it, and we’re so excited that it’s finally time for you all to hear it!”

The 12-track record was co-written by the members of the girl group alongside a number of UK songwriters and producers and will include the tracks Jungle, Weeds and Shook, all of which were released last year.

The group will also release a new music video for the lead single, premiering at 5pm on Thursday.

The group formed when they were teenagers in London in 1998 and released the song Overload in 2000.

Internal divisions saw a rotation of different members and the release of hit songs Push The Button and About You Now.

Members of the original line-up each pursued solo careers before reuniting in 2012, however, they regained the name Sugababes only in 2019.
