Harold Wood Running Club had 22 runners taking part in Raphael’s parkrun this week, while others represented the club further afield at events in Edinburgh, Folkestone and the Netherlands, competing at Kralingse Bos and Oosterplas.
Carol Norman travelled to Walton-on-the-Naze, where she celebrated a landmark achievement by completing her 250th parkrun.
On the marathon stage, Carol Nelson delivered an impressive performance at the Edinburgh Marathon, finishing in 5:35.00. The UK’s second-largest marathon is renowned for its fast, flat point-to-point course, which begins in the historic city centre, passes landmarks including the Royal Mile and Holyrood Park, and follows the East Lothian coastline to the finish at Pinkie Playing Fields.
Closer to home, 32 HWRC members were in action at the opening fixture of the East London Interclub Series Championships (ELVIS) at Eastbrookend Country Park. Susan Munn produced an excellent run to finish first in her age category.
Thomas Miller led the men home in a superb 35.49, while Abbie was the club’s first female finisher in a strong 39.06, rounding off another competitive and well-supported week for the club.
