Romford Buccaneers head coach Jason Buckman felt his young side were unlucky not to get maximum points in their National League Division One South double-header last weekend.
After skating to a superb 4-3 win at Invicta Dynamos on Saturday, they were edged out 3-2 by Solent at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre the following day.
But Buckman saw plenty of positives over the course of the 120 minutes of action.
"I was really happy with the two performances at the weekend," he said.
"We were unfortunate not to get the six points, but I feel we've made some good progress over the last couple of weeks in training."
After falling behind early at Invicta, second period goals from Harry Wright and Thomas Wilson kept them in touch.
And Juraj Huska and Megas Kanys struck in the final session to avenge an earlier loss, with Buckman adding: "Saturday was never going to be easy but the guys battled hard all game and that paid off in the end against a tough Invicta team.
"We went with a game plan and credit to the team for playing the whole 60 minutes the way we discussed and we came out of it with a great result."
Wilson put Buccs ahead against Solent, with just 28 seconds left in the first period.
But the visitors hit back with three goals in the middle session and Huska's 46th-minute reply proved academic.
"Sunday I felt first period we looked a bit leggy after Saturday's performance, and going into the second we let our work rate drop which let Solent back into the game," said Buckman.
"I certainly felt like we dominated the third period but couldn’t quite get the equalising goal. Another day with one of our goals not being disallowed and a couple more calls going our way the outcome could’ve been different."
Buccaneers face another double-header this weekend as they host Swindon on Saturday, then visit MK Thunder the following night.
"This coming weekend's fixtures are massive," added Buckman.
"We've made a statement now and have to follow up with the same confidence and performances. We will have a big week of training and nothing but six points will be acceptable this weekend."
