Hornchurch boss Steve Morison hailed his side's quality and attitude in their 6-0 romp at lowly Cheshunt.
The Isthmian League Premier Division leaders netted four times in the first half, before adding another brace late on.
And they are set to welcome Potters Bar Town to Bridge Avenue on Saturday with an 11-point lead at the top of the table with a third of the season now gone.
"On paper, against teams lower than us, people will say we should be winning those," said Morison.
"But they're free hits for the other teams, with no expectations on them.
"We have to turn up with the right attitude and mentality and our quality will come through.
"Enfield a week before, first v second, not a lot in it, but our quality from set-plays came through. It's about finding ways to win.
"We was on it from the start, we got into our groove and took our chances."
Ade Yusuff's left-wing cross was turned into his own net by Harlain Mbayo with only four minutes played.
And Yusuff then converted crosses from Tom Wraight and Nathan Green to make it 3-0, before captain Ryan Scott headed home a Wraight corner for his ninth goal of the season.
"It's great to come in at half-time 4-0 up but also hard to keep going. We're human and you take your foot off slightly," added Morison.
"But they were reduced to 10 men and we got a couple more goals and it's a great result with more goals to the tally."
Cheshunt goalkeeper Joe Rose saw red after handling the ball outside his area, before Liam Nash set up Femi Akinwande for a late double.
And Morison was able to give a debut to new signing Tyler Christian-Law, with Lewwis Spence signing dual registration forms at Essex Senior League side Romford.
"We lost Manny Harvest back to Orient and he has gone out to St Albans," said Morison.
"He was excellent for us, we're a platform for teams and players and served our purpose.
"We're only one injury away from being light in midfield but the owner backs us and Tyler has come in.
"Lewwis wanted some minutes, which is fair enough, and has gone to Romford but if we need him we can call."
Urchins saw a midweek clash at bottom club Concord postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, but after hosting Potters Bar are due to welcome Hashtag United for an Essex Senior Cup third-round tie on Tuesday.
"Concord was called off, but we knew it was coming," said Morison.
"We will be at it against Potters Bar. Hashtag have had some good results lately, but we will tick off Potters Bar and then cross that bridge when it comes to it."
