Three people have been arrested after a woman was the target of an alleged robbery and courier fraud in Brentwood.

Essex Police were called to Brook Road at around 5pm on September 11 with reports of a woman having been robbed. 

At the scene, officers established she had earlier been contacted by an alleged fraudster who is said to have posed as a police officer. 

The woman claimed he had pressured her into buying two expensive watches from a jeweller before she was approached by another male who allegedly robbed her after pushing her to the floor. 

The victim, in her 60s, suffered serious injuries which have been confirmed as non-life threatening or changing. 

Investigating officers arrested a 19-year-old man on September 14, and arrested two further men aged 17 and 18 on September 16. 

All three have since been bailed with conditions attached pending investigation. 

Det Sgt Rachel Barrett, from the Economic Crime Team, said: “We are ensuring support is in place for the victim as we continue our enquiries.

“I would reiterate the important message that authorities, including the police, will never ask you to withdraw money or buy items for any purpose.
