A new Japanese restaurant has opened in Brentwood - and the Romford Recorder had a peek inside.
Japanese restaurant group Taro has launched its seventh restaurant in Brentwood High Street, hoping to transport customers to Japan with its varied menu of ramen, rice dishes and small plates.
It is even offering sushi named after Brentwood and an Essex Roll - complete with a combination of salmon, prawn, tuna and yellowtail.
As well as the authentic dishes, Taro Brentwood also oozes laid-back Japanese style: think earth tones, house plants and origami lights.
Green booths run along one side of the restaurant for larger groups, while each table is carefully laid out with chopsticks.
A wooden map of Japan also adorns one wall.
Mr Taro, the founder of the Taro restaurant group, first visited London in 1979.
His dream was to bring Japanese cuisine and culture to London.
After opening his first restaurant in Brewer Street in 1999, his group has been on a mission to provide the finest Japanese food.
