A car went ablaze in Rainham just metres outside people's homes. 

The London Fire Brigade was called at 12.01pm on June 24 with reports of a vehicle fire. 

Firefighters swarmed Cowper Road, a residential street, yesterday to find the car on fire near people's homes and cars. 

The car was completely engulfed in the fireThe car was completely engulfed in the fire (Image: Victoria Baker) In total, the brigade's control centre took eight emergency calls about the fire, which they managed to extinguish in less than 20 minutes.

A fire engine from Dagenham fire station attended the incident.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
