A police cordon remains in place after a man's fatal stabbing in Dagenham yesterday.

Metropolitan Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 1.30am on April 20 after they found a man with stab injuries in Rothwell Gardens.

Another victim with more critical injuries was traced by officers at Flamstead Road after their initial enquiries.  Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the 23-year-old man died at the scene.

Rothwell Gardens, Rothwell Road and a small part of Flamstead Road was shut following the stabbing as forensics and detectives gathered evidence at the crime scene.

The roads continue to be closed for a second day and Met Police said their cordons will be in place “as long as necessary” for all the various levels of forensic work to take place.

The arrested man hasn’t yet been charged, the police added, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers have urged anyone with information or any witnesses to call the police on 101 citing reference 621/20APR.
