It is nearly Easter, and a long weekend awaits with its dose of festive fun.

For families in Havering, there are a host of Easter events taking place this year for kids of all ages.

We have compiled a list of activities to make the most of this time in and around the borough.

Easter Egg Hunt, Upminster Windmill:

This Friday (March 29), the historic Upminster Windmill will be hosting its first Easter Egg hunt from 10am to 4pm. The charges are just £3 per child, but the venue has said there is no parking available on site.

Thames Chase, Upminster:

Thames Chase Forest Centre in Pike Lane in Upminster has a series of activities throughout the Easter holidays. On Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday children can meet the Easter Bunny at the venue. On April 2, it is conducting a ‘Decorate your own Easter box’ event. April 3 and April 10 will be marked as ‘Crafty Wednesdays’, and April 9 will see Clay Creations taking place.

Easter Party at the Golden Crane, Upminster:

The Golden Crane pub in Avon Road in Upminster has announced an Easter Egg hunt party for families on March 28 at 4.30pm. There will be some live entertainment by the Skittle man company and Easter Bunny is said to make an appearance. Tickets are priced at £3 per child, but entry is free for adults.

Easter events at MyPlace Community Centre, Harold Hill:

The centre in Dagnam Park Drive in Harold Hill is organising kids workshops from April 2 to April 12, and has an Easter Egg hunt for children between two and 12 years of age.

While the event on Wednesday (April 3) is free of cost, the one on Thursday (April 4) will cost £6.

There will be Rabbit Crafts and Egg Crafts workshops on Friday (April 5), while other activities happening until April 12 include biscuit decorating and flower basket craft.

Easter Weekend at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Brentwood:

The animal sanctuary housing Shetland ponies, donkeys, jersey cows, horses and lambs among other animals, is throwing an ‘Easter Fun Weekend’ on Saturday (March 30) and Sunday (March 31) from 10am to 4pm. Attractions at the venue include Easter trails, Easter bunny, live children’s entertainers and performances, inflatables, a barbecue and a saddle up bar.

The tickets cost £13 for kids from two to 15 years, and £11 for adults with concessions in place.

Easter Egg hunt trail at Ingrebourne Nature Discovery Centre, Hornchurch:

The Essex Wildlife Trust is inviting families to coma and help Ingrebourne’s Easter Bunny find his lost eggs in the woods. The Easter Egg hunt trail is priced at just £3 per child and tickets can be purchased on the day.

Easter bonnet decorating and egg hunt at Romford Shopping Hall

Romford town centre’s Romford Shopping Hall will have an Easter bonnet decorating event happening on Thursday (April 4) from 10am to 3pm, and an Easter Egg hunt between 10am to 3pm on Wednesday (April 10).

Easter festival at Old MacDonald’s Farm & Fun Park, Brentwood:

The farm with the usual zoo suspects, plus alpacas, wallabies and owls, in Weald Road in Brentwood close to Junction 28 on M25, has some “eggsellent fun things” planned for Easter.

From Friday (March 29) to Sunday (April 14), the venue has a host of events like Easter Egg hunts, Magic shows, circus workshops and puppet shows.

Easter Express at Epping Ongar Railway, Epping:

For lovers of trains, the Epping Ongar Railway in Epping is organising an Easter Egg Hunt from March 29 at 10.30am to April 1 at 3pm. The venue revealed that when kids arrive on board the Easter Express, they will be given a sheet with clues before being asked to find as many numbered eggs as they can on the railway that are hidden by Bertie, the Easter Bunny.

At the end of the visit, kids can return the sheet at the gift shop to receive a special Easter treat. The fares cost £10 per child and £18 per adult. No tickets are needed for kids below three years of age.
