Slip roads connecting the Southend Arterial Road and the M25 in Havering are proposed to be shut at nights for three months.

Transport for London (TfL) issued a notice on March 8 announcing restrictions on the A127 Southend Arterial Road to carry out drainage investigation works from March 18 to June 18.

The order bans any vehicle from entering, exiting or proceeding on the off-slip or on-slip roads linking the eastbound and westbound carriageways of Southend Arterial Road with the M25 junction 29 roundabout.

The restrictions will be in effect each night during the period from Monday to Saturday between 10pm to 5am, or until the works are completed.

TfL clarified that the prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as is indicated by traffic signals.

Exemptions will be made for vehicles used for the purpose of the works and by the emergency services.

Anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by TfL will also be allowed to pass.

Alternative routes will be in place during the closure.

These, TfL said, will be indicated by traffic signs via Southend Arterial Road, Tilbury Road junction for eastbound and westbound traffic.
