A restaurant has been told it must improve its food safety by the Food Standards Agency after its latest inspection.

Albz Bar and Restaurant on Victoria Road in Romford was visited by Havering Council's environmental health team on January 25.

It received an overall rating of 1 out of 5, meaning major improvement is necessary. 

The restaurant, which serves Mediterranean food, grills and pasta was found lacking in the management of food safety, which requires it to have systems in place to ensure that the food served is safe to eat, and that the staff are aware of food safety guidelines.

The inspectors noted that the cleanliness and condition of the site to enable good food hygiene also needed some improvements.

The restaurant’s hygienic handling of food – including preparation, cooking, re-heating and storage was rated as generally satisfactory otherwise.

The ratings, however, do not stand for the quality of the food, customer service, culinary skills of the makers, presentation of food and comfort of the venue, and are subject to changes.
