A West Ham footballer was burgled and the club have offered a £25,000 reward for information.

Hammers defender Kurt Zouma's home was broken into while his family were at home, the club said. 

Essex Police were called at 11.50pm on Saturday (December 2) to reports of a burglary in west Essex.

"It was reported [the] suspects had gained entry to an address, before taking items including jewellery and watches," a police spokesperson said.

The investigation continues, police added. West Ham United offered a £25,000 reward for information following the incident.

"Kurt's home was broken into on Saturday while all his family were in the house, leaving everyone present extremely distressed," a club statement read.

"While thankfully no one was harmed, it was a traumatic experience for the West Ham defender, his wife and their young family."

The burglary happened on the eve of the Irons' Premier League game against London rivals Crystal Palace, which Zouma missed.
