Farm buildings said to be "in desperate need of revitalisation" in the grounds of a historic mansion could be turned into accommodation.

Plans have been made by applicant Amana Trust to convert and refurbish existing buildings to provide more residential accommodation for conference and training centre use at Bower House in Orange Tree Hill, Havering-atte-Bower.

In a design and access statement supporting the application, it says the stables there "have been falling into disrepair" and the site, which forms a part of the house's historic estate, is in "desperate need of revitalisation".

"This scheme would involve a refurbishment and repair of the existing farmstead as well as sympathetic interventions to adapt the buildings for accommodation purposes," the statement added.

The plans, P1566.23, would also involve the demolition of some buildings in a conservation area, a single-storey extension of the upper barn and a fresh single-storey plant room building on the site.

Havering Council received the application on October 20 and validated it on November 2. 

A decision date has been set to December 28 this year.
