A man from Hornchurch has admitted to a bomb hoax after he left a suitcase at a DLR station.
On August 15 last year, 45-year-old Brian Chambers left a green suitcase at Tower Gateway DLR station with the intention of convincing others that it was likely to explode.
Chambers, of Adelphi Crescent, appeared at the Old Bailey for sentencing on Monday (October 30).
He had pleaded guilty to the offence at Southend Magistrates’ Court on October 2.
Chambers had failed to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court five days earlier and after a warrant for arrest was issued, he handed himself in to Southend Police Station.
Judge Trowler KC adjourned the case until December to give Chambers time to secure legal representation.
