A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after an assault by someone suspected of carrying a ‘bladed’ weapon.
North Street in Hornchurch was closed off last night (October 16) between the High Street and Westland Avenue after the attack.
Police were called to reports of an assault in the area at 9.19pm.
A man, in his 40s, was found with a head injury and taken to hospital, where his condition was found to be not life-threatening or life-changing.
Another man, also in his 40s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, robbery and carrying a bladed article.
It is understood that North Street remained closed until the early hours of this morning (October 17), with bus routes diverted including the 165, 256 and 370.
An investigation is taking place and anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 7384/16Oct.
