Schools in Havering were celebrated for their Ofsted gradings in a ceremony.

Fourteen of the borough's schools were rated 'good' or 'outstanding' by the education regulator between September 2022 and March 2023.

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Trevor McKeever, gave them each a commendation and thanked the staff for their dedication and hard work.

This included St Peter’s Catholic Primary, Harold Court Primary, Abbs Cross Academy, Emerson Park Academy and Harrow Lodge Primary.

Drapers' Brookside Junior, Sanders Draper, Gaynes, Rise Park Junior, St Joseph's Catholic Primary, The Coopers’ Company and Coborn, Brittons and Redden Court were also commended.

Drapers' Brookside Infant School, that had its rating upgraded from ‘requires improvement’ to ‘good’ this February, was also recognised.

The schools were given a signed certificate at Havering Town Hall and sent an invitation to bring their pupils to visit the mayor and the council chambers.

The mayor said during the ceremony that he is “a product of Havering education” and that he “excelled” when he went to Havering Technical College.

He shared: “Havering education has been good for me and without it I would not be sitting where I am today. So, to all the teachers of the past and teachers of the present I would like to thank you very much for all you do.”
