Police have been spotted at Romford station carrying out a drugs operation. 

There was speculation on social media that another stabbing had occurred in the town centre today (March 3), just days after an incident in which three teenagers were hospitalised. 

However, British Transport Police officers at the station told the Recorder this afternoon that no stabbing had been reported, and that their presence was part of a drugs operation. 

At least one sniffer dog was also with the police, with several passengers being checked by officers at the time this paper arrived at the scene. 

A Met Police spokesperson said they had not received a call to a stabbing in South Street today.

The force had been called to the road on Monday (February 27) to reports of a stabbing and officers found three boys with knife wounds.

Three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of public order and/or weapons offences in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson also said none of those taken to hospital had life-threatening injuries.
