Romford Buccaneers head coach Jason Buckman says his side need to be fully focused at all times, after suffering a heavy defeat in National League Division One South last weekend.
Having seen their game at Streatham postponed a week earlier, after the tragic death of Nottingham Panthers player Adam Johnson, Buccs travelled to the south coast to face Solent.
And they were caught cold on the under-sized rink as the hosts scored twice in the opening 62 seconds.
Devils added a powerplay goal, after Luca Pascale was called for slashing, and had moved 6-0 up by the midway point of the match.
Sam Robinson, Ewan Hill and Brynley Capps replied before the second break, but Buccs were outscored 4-1 in the final session - with Thomas Wilson their man on target - to lose 10-4.
And Buckman is hoping it is a wake-up call for his squad.
"Tough result at the weekend, only the one game again which wasn’t ideal, but we need to understand when we have a one-game weekend the effort needs to be 100 per cent," he said.
"It’s just not acceptable to think individual talent can win us games. Everybody on the roster needs to show up and work their socks off.
"Training will be tough this week as we have two more weeks of one-game weekends, and the team will have to show up and work hard against MK to get a result."
Buccs welcome MK Thunder to Romford's Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Sunday (5.15pm), before a return meeting in Milton Keynes on November 19 (6.45pm).
