A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Ilford High Road.

Police were called to Ilford High Road, near to the Redbridge Council building, today (November 16) at 5.25pm.

A man, 18, was found with injuries but his condition is currently unknown.

UPDATE: Police have since said the victim was actually a 17-year-old boy, not 18 as originally reported by the Metropolitan Police.

Officers have cordoned of the road and a  crime scene is in place.

However at this early stage, no arrests have been made.

The Metropolitan Police said: Police were called around 5.25pm on Saturday, November 16, to Ilford High Road to reports of a man stabbed.

"Officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service.

"An 18-year-old man was discovered with injuries.

"He has been taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition.

"Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident, including where it took place.

"There has been no arrest."
