A hotel worker raped and sexually assaulted a series of women by abusing his role.

Ahmed Fahmy, of West Heath Drive, Golders Green, sexually assaulted one woman and then raped another in one night.

When arrested, he was linked to two earlier attacks.

He was found guilty at Hendon Magistrates Court on Thursday (July 25) of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

The 45-year-old was working at the Anchor Hotel, also in West Heath Drive, when four women travelled to stay there on January 19 this year .

The group became separated during a night out and three of the women returned to the hotel after realising their friend, who was not there, had the room key.

Fahmy claimed he did not have another key for the room and demanded that one of the women withdraw £80 from a cashpoint so she could stay in a different room.

The woman did so and Fahmy let her into a separate room.

She removed her shoes and got into bed still fully dressed, but was awoken later by Fahmy licking her foot.

At first he left after she told him to stop and to go away, but she woke up again to find him doing a similar thing.

She then kicked him and repeated for him to stop.

Later that morning the fourth member of the group returned to the hotel and told Fahmy she had lost her key.

He manoeuvred her into his own bedroom, where he raped her.

The group changed hotels in the morning.

On January 21, police found the victim distressed in Regent's Park after she was separated from her friends again.

As she was unable to tell police where her new hotel was, officers tried to take her back to the Golders Green hotel to find contact details for her friends.

But as they were walking towards their police car, the woman started crying, telling officers she could not return to that hotel as the manager had raped her.

Police took an account and arrested Fahmy on suspicion of rape. Her friend, who was also sexually assaulted, told officers what happened to her.

During the investigation Fahmy was linked to two other non-recent sexual assaults, which centred on touching women’s feet. Both victims agreed to support the investigation.

In one of these cases Fahmy was arrested after an allegation of sexual assault at the Alliance Close, Wembley, in 2008, but no further action was taken at the time.

But in another he was accused of touching a victim-survivor's foot while working at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel in Canning Town.

Detective Constable James Gomm, who led the investigation, said: “Fahmy displayed a clear pattern of offending where he abused his position as a hotel worker to get close to his victims and carry out his crimes.

“I want to commend all the victim-survivors for the courage they have shown throughout this investigation. Some of the offences in this case happened a number of years ago and some victim-survivors felt more able to support the investigation now that time had passed since their initial reports.”

He added: “There may be other victims of Fahmy and, if so, I would urge them to get in contact with police immediately – you will be listened to and provided with support.”

Fahmy will be sentenced at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on September 20.
