A supermarket in Dagenham is set to close this month in the face of "extensive refurbishment works". 

The Lidl store in Heathway will be closed from July 22 to allow for the works to go ahead. 

The shop sits next to the former Iceland premises, which relocated to the Heathway Shopping Centre in April.

"This will enable us to deliver even more of our fresh, high quality and affordable produce to the local community.

The supermarket giant is yet to confirm when the store will be reopening later this year. 

Customers wishing to continue to shop from Lidl can visit the chain's other Dagenham stores in Longbridge Road, Whalebone Lane or at the Grove Farm Retail Park supermarket in Chadwell Heath.
