A Japanese restaurant has opened its seventh site in Brentwood - and is selling special sushi named after the town.

Taro, a restaurant group known for its authentic Japanese dishes, continues its expansion this summer with its new restaurant at 37 High Street, Brentwood.

The Brentwood site marks its seventh restaurant, with its eighth site also opening in Catford this summer.

Taro has a varied menu concocted from fresh ingredients and designed to transport customers straight to Japan with each bite.

Fans of small plates can look forward to grilled chicken or prawn gyozas, or sample Takoyoki - deep-fried octopus balls with Japanese tonkatsu sauce – and salads and sushi to pair with the warmer weather.

Main courses include steaming bowls of ramen, udon noodles, and different rice dishes.

The bento boxes, served in traditional black and red trays, feature Japanese classics such as sushi, tempura, katsu, and edamame.

Taro Brentwood will have special dishes exclusive to the restaurant including TanTan Ramen - a creamy ramen dish with a nutty sesame broth - and even its own sushi, the Brentwood Roll.

Drinks set to be served include Japanese beer, soft drinks and a mix of hot and cold Sake (Japanese rice wine).

Mr Taro, the founder of the Taro restaurant group, first visited London in 1979.

His dream was to bring Japanese cuisine and culture to London.

After opening his first restaurant in Brewer Street in 1999, his group has been on a mission to provide the finest authentic Japanese food.
