Police have arrested who they believe are key organisers of environmental protest group Just Stop Oil in east London.
Yesterday (June 27) the Metropolitan Police arrested six people at an event in an east London community centre.
"We believe some of those in custody are key organisers for Just Stop Oil," police said, claiming the group has plans to disrupt thousands of holidaymakers this summer.
Just Stop Oil is a civil resistance group demanding the British government halts licensing for all oil, gas and coal projects, according to their website.
On June 5, the World Meteorological Organisation forecast an 80% likelihood the world will see the annual average global temperature temporarily exceed the 1.5c threshold set by the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

The group has been responsible for a number of protests, including defacing ancient monument Stonehenge with orange paint, which it claimed would wash out in the rain.
Police arrested the group of six under the Public Order Act which makes it illegal to conspire to disrupt national infrastructure.
After making the arrests, police said they will continue to work with airport operators to prevent significant disruption.
"Anyone who disrupts the safety and security of an airport can expect to be dealt with swiftly and robustly," the force added.
