A senior school has been shortlisted for a national award dubbed the "Oscars of education" amid a challenging time for education.

Brentwood School on Ingrave Road, Essex, was nominated for the category "Independent Senior School of the Year" in the Tes School Awards 2024.

The awards, dubbed the "Oscars of education", celebrates the best in education across the UK, recognising top teachers and schools.

It has been a challenging time for schools, Jon Severs, editor of Tes Magazine said, making Brentwood's School's achievements more impressive.

Michael Bond, Headmaster of Brentwood School, said: "It [the nomination] is testament to the whole (our school) being so much more than the sum of its individual parts."
