A drop-in session about periods was held at a Romford hospital aimed at helping girls and young women feel more at ease when discussing the subject.
Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Anjita Sinha led the discussion, with the hospital charity providing free period pads.
She was there to reassure young people at Queen’s Hospital that periods are “a normal part of life” and nothing to worry about.
“Periods are a normal part of growing up,” Anjita said. “It’s important that youngsters are not afraid to talk about them and get help when needed.”
She also guided youngsters on what to ask their doctors if they have concerns about their periods.
The drop-in session aimed to create “a safe and comfortable space” to learn about periods.
Anjita now plans to hold more sessions at the hospital in Rom Valley Way to help young women have a better understanding of their bodies.
