Nearly a dozen people have submitted plans to replace or transform their garages into living spaces in the latest list of planning applications.

Havering Council has received 38 applications for a variety of developments in the borough for the week March 5 to March 11.

Eleven of these proposals, pending approval, would see garages demolished or converted for various uses across several neighbourhoods.

Over in Queen's Gardens, Rainham, one application (P0323.24) seeks to raze the existing garage and erect a detached chalet bungalow in its place.

In Dunster Crescent, Hornchurch, the proposal (P0278.24) involves converting the current garage into a habitable area with a two-storey side extension and additional parking.

In Gilroy Close, Rainham (P0341.24) the garage will be demolished for a two-storey side extension and a single-storey front extension.

Similarly, in Dominion Drive, Romford, (P0339.24) the existing garage and outbuilding are set to be replaced by a new shed.

Garage transformation continues to be a trend in Yale Way, Hornchurch, (P0351.24)  and in Roding Way Rainham (P0349.24) where thy will be converted into habitable spaces.

In Woodlands Avenue, Hornchurch ( P0220.24) a proposal for a two storey front/side/rear extension, a two storey front porch, more steps and a loft conversion with front/side and rear dormers will include demolishing the garage to make way for it all.

Only part of a garage will be removed in Farm Way, Hornchurch, if the single two storey rear extension and internal reconfiguration proposal gets the green light (P0275.24)

Applicant KMDS Designs also hopes to build a single storey annex building at the back of the garden at the Farm Way site to be used in conjunction with the main house (P0329.24).

A garage in Winchester Avenue, Upminster could be replaced by a single storey side extension (P0350.24) if approved.

A two-bedroom end terrace dwelling with parking, landscaping and amenities would replace the existing garage in Lancing Road, Romford, if permitted (P0290.24) .

Granny annexes also appear in the list of planning applications.

In Macdonald Avenue, Hornchurch (P0316.24) it involves a change of use of an existing outbuilding.

In Briscoe Road, Rainham, it's a retrospective application (P0177.24) for a granny annex and demolition of the existing garage.

Further submitted applications include a plan (P0204.24) to demolish a house in Colchester Road, Harold Hill.

In its place is a proposed two storey house with habitable roof space to be used as a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) which will provide nine studio rooms.

In North Street, Romford, the plan (P0208.24) is to build a new four-storey block of flats, consisting of seven two bedroom flats, with associated bin and cycle storage and changes to the hard and soft landscaping to provide areas of communal amenity - as well as the relocation of secondary access doors two existing ground floor flats and relocation of commercial storage within the site.
