First images of Roe Wood Park development in Harold Hill

The former Havering College site in Harold Hill will be transformed into the new development, known as Roe Wood Park.

Local resident Peter Barrett has captured the early build stages of the development, with a series of aerial drone photographs.

CGI images, created by Bellway London, provide a glimpse into how the development will look upon completion.

The construction of Roe Wood Park is being delivered by Bellway London and Mercury Land Holdings, a company owned by Havering Council that specialises in housing development in the borough.

The development, which is situated at the former Quarles Campus site off Tring Gardens, will include a mix of 53 houses and apartments available for private sale.

These will consist of one, two, and three-bedroom properties.

A total of 47 'affordable' homes will also be made available through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Mercury Land Holdings will keep an extra 20 homes for private rent.

Roe Wood Park is expected to be ready for the public by spring next year, when the first homes will be opened to prospective buyers.

The location benefits from being surrounded by green open space and woodland, and also has excellent transport links, including Harold Wood railway station and junction 28 of the M25.

Councillor Paul McGeary, Havering Council’s cabinet lead for housing, said: "This scheme supports our ambition to deliver much needed housing in the borough with 47 being affordable homes for local residents.

"This gives more choice and flexibility in the Havering housing market."

Garry Green, director for Mercury Land Holdings, added: "We are delighted to deliver this development in partnership with Bellway London and Havering Council.

"The regeneration at Roe Wood Park isn’t just about creating new homes - it’s about building a community."

Plans for the redevelopment of the former college site were approved in February 2022, two years after the site was vacated.

Demolition work started earlier this year, and ground works are currently underway.
