A charity shop looks set to open next to a shopping hall near the town's historic market after an application for signage was approved.
British Heart Foundation successfully applied to install three internally-lit signs, one unlit sign and an illuminated projecting sign with its branding at 45 Market Place in Romford.
The premises, currently vacant, is right next to Romford Shopping Hall, just off the market.
Havering Council received the application on December 4 last year and validated it the same day.
The local authority approved the proposed signage last Friday (January 19, 2024).

The plans have been approved with certain conditions. The signs must not impair the visual amenity of the site nor hinder the interpretation of traffic signs, the council stated.
Agent Graham and Sibbald, a land surveying agency, has supported the application, which has a projected total cost of up to £2 million.
In the application form, it was stated that the development was expected to begin in March 2023 and end in July that year, but works have been delayed as the unit remain empty.
