Police are investigating after a woman claimed she was injured trying to stop a child stabbing another child in Romford.
A post on X, formerly Twitter, by the woman on January 4 showed pictures of her injuries.
She posted: "I’ve just stopped a child from stabbing another child in Romford."
The child with the knife, she claimed, was no bigger than her 12-year-old child and the weapon was “monstrous looking”.
She added: “It sliced my thumb. I can’t believe this is what our kids are playing with.”

The Metropolitan Police said they are aware of the post and have begun an investigation. Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local neighbourhood teams, they said, are fully aware and carrying out reassurance patrols within the area.
No arrests have been made and officers have urged anyone with information to contact the police on 101 quoting CAD 5875 04JAN25.
