A decision on whether a takeaway restaurant will replace an organic food store has been delayed, according to Havering Council.

The applicant Nusret Uguz has proposed to change the premises in Main Road, Gidea Park, into a restaurant and takeaway.

It was occupied by food shop Olive Well, which announced in August it was in the process of closing.

Havering Council received the application, P1145.23, on July 21, validated it on August 2 and set a decision date to September 27, one that passed almost a month ago.

But a council spokesperson said yesterday (October 24) that the decision date has been delayed after "[an] external seating area and boundary fence" were added to the plans.

"We need to re-consult on the application," they said. "This obviously delays the decision date as we have to give three weeks consultation time."

If plans are approved, the takeaway would serve people from 8am until 11pm from Monday to Thursday, 8am to 12am from Friday to Saturday and 9am to 10.30pm on Sunday and bank holidays.

The premises would include the installation of flue extraction systems and has a projected cost of up to £2 million.
