A GP surgery has moved to a different location after a water leak.
Billet Lane Medical Practice, in Billet Lane, Hornchurch, messaged its patients on August 30 that it has shifted to South Hornchurch Health Centre in Southend Road, Rainham, “until further notice”.
The surgery, which has approximately 3,500 patients registered, said in the message that the move was due to “extensive works” that needed to be carried out following damage caused by water leakage.
The surgery’s website claims that the reception area is still open for patients to drop off samples, and that its phone line remains the same.
Patients who require a face-to-face appointment are directed to the South Hornchurch Clinic.
Confirming the news of the surgery’s relocation, a spokesperson from NHS North East London said: “Billet Lane Medical Practice, Hornchurch, has been temporarily closed until further notice due to the need for essential maintenance works.
“To ensure the safety of patients, anyone registered with Billet Lane Medical Practice who requires a face-to-face appointment is being seen at South Hornchurch Healthcare Centre in Rainham.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working closely with the practice to ensure that any impact on patients is kept to a minimum."
The spokesman declined to share details on the nature of the leaks, or how long the surgery will remain at South Hornchurch Medical Practice.
