A hotel chain has said that it is helping police with their investigation after two people were found dead at one of its Romford hotels.
A man, 28, and a woman, 54, were found “unresponsive” at a hotel in Mercury Gardens on Saturday (July 1) after police were called at 12.43pm.
Specialist officers attended due to concerns about a substance that was found at the scene.
London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade were also called.

A spokesperson for Premier Inn said that its Mercury Gardens hotel has remained “open and operating” since Saturday evening.
They said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of these guests at this terribly sad time.”
Their team is assisting police with their investigation, the spokesperson added.
Police previously said the deaths are being treated as unexpected and that officers were carrying out enquiries to work out the circumstances.
