Arrests have been made following a police crackdown across Havering, with a focus on robbery and knife crime.

Police yesterday (June 29) conducted 44 stop and searches across Havering and made three arrests, one for allegedly carrying a knife and two others for allegedly possessing class A drugs, including cocaine.

This was part of an effort, named Operation Snare, to crack down on robbery and knife crime across the borough.

Teams patrolled Romford town centre, Collier Row, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Upminster, Elm Park and Rainham.

Police also recovered a vehicle stolen from Upminster, removed another vehicle for not having insurance and reported a driver for not having a licence or insurance.

Nine others were issued with community resolutions for cannabis possession and a stolen bank card with cash was also recovered.

Out of 44 stop and searches, police claimed 12 were positive.

The officers involved were from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Romford Town Centre Team, Havering Joint Task Force, Havering Council enforcement officers and British Transport Police.

Plain clothes officers assisted 999 response teams and a weapons sweep was completed with the status dog unit.
