Train services in Havering will be impacted this weekend as disputes over pay and working conditions continue.

Greater Anglia, Transport for London (TfL) and c2c will be operating reduced services on all or part of their networks with the second day of a 48-hour strike planned for tomorrow (December 17).

The UK is currently gripped by industrial action across multiple sectors, including nursing, postal workers and driving examiners, as well as rail workers.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) general secretary Mick Lynch said he had attended talks convened by the rail minister Huw Merriman on Thursday night (December 15), which included Network Rail and the Rail Delivery Group, with further discussions agreed.

However, he said “in the meantime, all industrial action remains in place”.

Here is what the train providers are saying about services in Havering over the weekend.

Greater Anglia

Greater Anglia is asking passengers to avoid travelling on Saturday, as its services will be “heavily reduced and disrupted”.

Trains will begin running from 7am, with all journeys to be completed by 6.30pm.

In addition, Greater Anglia’s website states there will be:

  • one train per hour between Norwich, Colchester and Cambridge and Liverpool Street;
  • two trains per hour between Southend Victoria and Liverpool Street and on the Stansted Express;
  • and no services on regional/branch lines or rail replacement buses for them.

For those looking to travel on Sunday, the train company says services will not be back to normal until early afternoon, with most not due to start until after 7.30am.

c2c

c2c is advising passengers to only travel if necessary on Saturday, and to plan ahead if they do so.

A reduced service will be operating on Saturday, running between 7.30am to 6.30pm.

There will be:

  • two trains per hour Fenchurch Street to Grays via Ockendon and Chafford Hundred;
  • two trains per hour Fenchurch Street to Stanford-le-Hope via Rainham;
  • no service between Shoeburyness and Upminster and Liverpool St and Barking;
  • and no service between Stanford-le-Hope and Southend Central.

The last trains on Saturday will be:

  • the 5pm Fenchurch Street to Stanford-le-Hope via Rainham and Grays;
  • the 5.15pm Fenchurch Street to Grays via Ockendon;
  • and the 5.52pm Fenchurch Street to Grays via Rainham.

TfL

Reduced services will be run across the Elizabeth line and London Overground on Saturday.

These include:

  • two trains per hour on the Elizabeth Line between Liverpool Street and Shenfield, with services running between 7.30am and 5.30pm;
  • and a reduced service on the Overground, running between 7.30am and 6.30pm, with no services between Barking and Barking Riverside or between Romford and Upminster.

TfL adds that for the day after strikes, a good service can expect to be running by late morning.
