LOUISE SINCLAIR
Louise Sinclair (nee Brewer), 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Abbcross Nursing Home in Romford, Essex, where she had been a resident for nearly 3 years. Louise was born on January 17, 1921 in Ilford, Essex. She married Fraser Sinclair of Aberdeen, Scotland in 1943 after which they moved to Upminster and remained in the borough from that time on. Louise was dedicated to her community and was first elected to Havering County Council in 1968, representing the Residents Association. She was a continuous serving councillor for 40 years and leader of the Residents Association for much of that time. Her councillor career was highlighted by being appointed Mayor of Havering twice, 1988/1989 and 2004/2005. She was also made an Honorary Alderman of the London Borough of Havering in 2006. Other community involvements include being a member of the Board of Trustees for the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. Louise was a strong highly ethical, keenly intelligent and independent woman ahead of her time. She was kind, loving, generous and a supportive wife, mother, aunt, grandparent and friend. Although very involved with local government, she was not political, her goal being to truly act on behalf of the local residents and their best interests. She also devoted her life to her son, a person with disabilities, acting as his tireless advocate so he could achieve the highest possible quality of life. Louise is survived by her children, daughter Lesley McGlocklin, son Peter Sinclair, grandchildren Emily Zahniser and Ian McGlocklin, great-grandsons Fraser, Oscar and Gryffin. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at South Essex Crematorium, Ockendon Road, Upminster RM14 2UY. A celebration of Louise will take place immediately after the funeral at the Huntsman and Hounds, Ockendon Road, RM14 2DN. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to the Epilepsy Society. A donation box will be at the funeral or donations can be made online: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/LouiseGSinclair. The family wish to thank the staff of Abbcross Nursing Home for their love and care of Louise, and the staff and doctors of Queens Hospital. We will miss you greatly Louise, a grand dame, who set the bar for us all.
