It is with profound sadness that the family of John McKernan announce his passing on Monday, 14 February 2022 at the age of 82 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Norah; children: James (Elham) and Emma; Jimmy (brother-in-law); as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his former loving wife of 54 years, Gwenda; sister (Mary); brother (Peter); and his parents (James and Gladys). John was very active in the community. He was active in the local Labour party. He also dedicated a lot of time to the St. Francis Hospice. He first become involved in 1997 and he was chairman of the hospice from 2001 to 2010. He was both chairman of the governing body and then chairman of the trust board of Hall Mead and he was also heavily involved with Pyrgo Priory. He was also an ardent Celtic's supporter and seldom missed a home game. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, 11 March at Catholic church Corpus Cristi, Lowshoe Lane, Romford, RM5 2AP. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Hospice, The Hall, Broxhill Road, Havering-atte-Bower, Romford, Essex, RM4 1QH, or to St Christopher's Hospice, 51-59 Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham London, SE26 6DZ.
